Study Finds British Businesses Slow to Move to the Cloud

2nd April 2013

UK cloud computing research has recently highlighted the fact the British businesses have been slow to adopt cloud computing services, lagging behind many other overseas businesses.

The research, which was conducted by Vanson Bourne and commissioned by Rackspace, found that despite cloud computing's economic benefits, British business seems hesitant in adopting it. The study also looked at 1,300 cloud users, finding that could-based systems led to reduced levels of spending on hardware, staffing and office space.

When it came to adoption of the new technology, however, US companies led the way, with many using the advantages offered by the cloud to get a foot up on their competition. This was particularly evident with start-ups, with cloud computing helping 83% of start-ups in the US compared to just 62% in the UK.
