JOB - Department: Sales (Role: Business Development Executive)
If you’ve got the motivation to find new customers, help find them the right solution and develop a long term relationship, we’re looking for you. With a O.T.E salary of £30K-£35K, you’ll be responsible for developing new business for our I.T. and Internet Services, primarily in the SME marketplace, taking our flair for specialist and unique solutions, diverse range of products & services and ensuring customers get the advantage, enabling them to succeed.
Following our recent move to new offices, we’re looking to add a Business Development Executive to our small, but growing team. Our ideal candidate will be someone able to generate brand new business without the backing of traditional “cold calling” and marketing departments, and is capable of visioning how our existing portfolio of services can be best utilised to meet a customer’s requirements, and then build on those foundations for the long term, creating satisfied customers who trust us to deliver leading, practical solutions.

We don’t cap your earnings, so the more motivation you have to complete new deals the more you can earn – but you have to be able to prove that customers are satisfied and ensure you don’t just have them sign on the line, but watch over to make sure that solutions are implemented correctly. We pride ourselves on the honest and trustworthy approach to customers, so you’ll need to sell honestly, and only sell what people genuinely want.
Ideally, you’ll have experience of I.T. and Internet Services (such as Small Business Networks, Communications Systems, Web Hosting, E-Mail Systems and Remote Access/VPN Technologies), or have a broad knowledge of the I.T. Industry for Small Businesses.
The successful candidate will report to the Managing Director, but as we operate a flat management structure, you will be responsible for clear communication at all levels of the company to ensure a quality solution and after-sales support for our customers. Finally, you’ll need to be someone who is flexible to change and continuing development of the role and business.
The role will involve:
- Listening to customer and prospect requirements, and working to develop a quotation and service agreement for the required services
- Being involved in responses to formal tenders and extending our reach to apply for tenders.
- Increasing our product and service sales in line with the companies objectives primarily to new customers
- Providing feedback to our Technical Teams on potential new products and services we could offer or are being requested.
- Taking responsibility and ownership of new customer issues to ensure they are satisfied when they join us through the initial phases of involvement with the company, ensuring they are resolved internally.
Straight talking is important to us and our customers - so we'll be blunt. This is not just a sales job. We do not wish to consider anyone who is purely interested in "getting people to sign on the line" and then leave others to manage the process and detail - our customer relationships are important to us, and accordingly our approach and ethos reflects this. There is no admin "team" to deal with the detail and clearing up the small areas you overlook in a traditional sales job - that's your responsibility working alongside our Technical Staff. The successful applicant can expect a rewarding career seeing solutions delivered and relationships grow from this commitment.
Location: Central Exeter (less than 10-12 minutes from major railway and bus routes).
Start Date: IMMEDIATE (e.g. as soon as you can!)
Hours: Standard Hours are Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm, but limited scope for flexibility is available.
Overtime: Available in special cases only in this role.
