Technical Sales Person
VPW Systems (UK) Ltd is a growing Internet and I.T. Service provider, based in Exeter, Devon but providing a range of Managed Services to customers throughout the country. As part of its ongoing growth and record 2009 sales performance, the company wishes to hire additional people to join the team so the resource to help bolster its sales of a key range of products/services is boosted.
The Role:
This role would suit someone who has existing Technical Sales experience, preferably in a small or medium I.T/Internet Business, and has the following key skills/capabilities. The successful applicant will be working to develop new business opportunities based on sales of our strong portfolio of I.T. & Internet Solutions, focusing primarily on the managed and hosted services we offer today to grow adoption of those services.
You will need to find new opportunities and develop them into converted leads and ensure successful delivery of the sold products to the customer by liasing with our technical and accounts staff, as the role includes a degree of account management in order that you can sell solutions to customers in an effective manager and nurture the relationship.
Background:
This role would suit someone who wants a challenge, and an opportunity to lead the way. At present we don't have any full time sales positions so you'll have considerable freedom to develop the role and position - this may allow you to better use your skills as there will be no preconceived view of how you have to act or gain those sales.
You'll be working from our Exeter offices, and the role is considered to be a full time position (typically Monday to Friday, 9am until 5pm - but we're willing to consider part-time or flexible positions with suitable cause)
Our attitude to business is fairly straightforward - we don't believe in cutting corners, but we don't spend excessively either - we invest heavily in our services to benefit our customers, and we try to empower our people to be successful. We're a profitable, debt-free company and have recorded our strongest year for sales yet in 2009. You'll be joining a small team of dedicated staff and will be expected to act as a team player. That does, of course include the tea run!
Key Strengths:
To be successful in this role, we would expect you to:
* Have a sound technical knowledge of Hosted & Managed I.T. Services in general
* Be able to communicate with potential customers at a technical level when required, but a non-technical and easy manner when working with non-technical customers
* Be a thinker and able to develop new sales opportunities and discover opportunities without needing the support of a telesales or large marketing budget
* Able to work "alone" or as part of a small group
* Capable of identifying unique solutions and ideas that can benefit customers, even if those solutions may be one of a kind or niche in approach
We are willing to consider someone without all of these skills or experience providing you can demonstrate your capabilities to us - after all you can't get experience if nobody gives you an opportunity - just make sure you can turn the enthusiasm into results!
The role will include:
* Finding new sales opportunities for our range of Managed and Hosted Services
* Encouraging a Reseller/Partner model to encourage sales
* Working alongside management on marketing/sales opportunities as they arise
* Reviewing and responding to relevant tender opportunities
* Exploring how we can develop our relationships with existing customers to encourage greater sales.
You would not be suitable for this role if:
* You think sales means "get people to sign at any cost (to them)"
* You think that sales is all about meeting targets, and not about caring for customers
* You want a role that lets you have others do your job, but you take the credit
* If you haven't any knowledge of managed I.T. Services
* You're expecting a company car, free mobile and crazy expense claims just for having a job
* You think that the Apple iPhone is the answer to all mobile internet needs & problems
* You don't know what firewall's are, why someone would benefit from a server or what one is
You would be incredibly suitable for this role if:

* You want to help us grow our business to new levels, and expand our capabilities

* You're not afraid to justify your rationale and explain your decisions
* You don't want to work in another stuffy office with faceless management
* You could explain the benefits of hosted e-mail solutions to a small business
* You are as comfortable talking to a small holiday park owner as you are the boss of a large engineering company - and can talk to them at the appropriate level
Salary and Benefits:
We're looking to negotiate our salary and conditions package to meet the individual opportunity and can be flexible on working hours, benefits and potential opportunities available - so please make sure you have an idea of what you think you're skills are worth!
The basic salary range is £20-£30K, with realistic commission earnings could be in excess of £40K-£50K depending on experience, with a generous commission structure, which rewards you on an ongoing basis as long as you remain with us and retain customers through good service. There is no cap set on your potential commission based earnings.
