The service is a fully customer specific solution, designed to meet your exact needs, so the combination of services and options available are fully tailored to your needs. Some of the capabilities of the service are listed below (not all options are included in all packages):
- Mutliple Geographic Location Backup and Redundancy - if storing data in a single location continues to present unacceptable risk, then you'll appreciate our systems ability to offer multiple geographical locations. At present we offer scaling to up to 4 distinct UK Locations, with international locations in development at present.
- Scalable from 1 to 100's of servers, running operating Systems from Windows Server, Netware, and Mac OS Server, plus many UNIX and Linux variants. The service can cover mixed environments for the most demanding requirements.
- Provided using a secure high-encryption IPSec VPN based Infrastructure to safeguard your data from unauthorised access. Optionally provided using dedicated private circuits and distinct, segmented data storage systems where data sensitivity is absolutely critical.
- A fully managed Infrastructure and service that is Monitored 24/7/365, and backed by a comprehensive set of Service Level Agreements and Performance Guarantees. (Both Standard and bespoke agreements available)
- Works with leading Enterprise Applications including Microsoft Exchange up to 2007 release, Microsoft SQL Server 2000 and 2005, Sharepoint, Oracle, IBM DB2, Lotus Domino, Active Directory, and much more.
- Options to have complete data and recovery information couriered within hours almost anywhere in the UK in the event of total WAN connectivity loss from a critical failure, or our specialist recovery engineers arrive at your site to assist with rebuilding your services on our Ultimate Bespoke Edition.
- Where instant access on-site is required for non-physical disasters, the service can also include a full on-site copy of your entire backup data as well, for the fastest possible recovery - giving additional protection against link failure, or for more convinient accidental data loss recovery.
- Can include facilities to backup data as soon as it is committed to disk on your servers where frequent data change occurs through the Real Time Backup Service.
- Extremely flexible storage, retention, and archive policies to meet the specific needs of individual organisations - from 1 month to 3 years retention and beyond (bespoke options available).
Example Scenario 1:
More than 30 servers spread across 6 sites in the UK, with a total storage requirement of around 1Tb, all running Windows 2000, Windows 2003 (various flavours) and a mix of Microsoft Exchange, SQL Server and a number of bespoke applications. All being backed up across 3 of our geographical locations, with at least 2 sites having local data mirrors for instant recovery in the event of accidental data loss. Data retention provided of 90 days with monthly "to tape" archives for point in time recovery and archiving purposes. This solution is real and provided using the Enteprise Backup Ultimate Option.
Example Scenario 2:
7 Servers on a single site, with critical daily data relating to retail point of sale systems, backed up using the Single-Site option with a bespoke range of options including Microsoft Exchange and Microsoft SQL Server Data backup, management and data recovery testing options. Daily backups with a standard 2 month retention period. This solution is also real and active on the service right now.
