Questions relating to VPower Servers

Q. Does my VPower Windows Server provide full Remote Access?

Yes, by default we provide you with "RDP" or "Remote Desktop" Access to your server, and you are issued with Administrator Login rights. We restrict Remote Access connections by IP Address for security reasons.

Q. What applications can I install on my VPower Server?

Generally, you can install any application that would install on a system running your chosen operating system, which needs no more than the storage, processing and memory capacity you are renting.

Q. Can I rent additional Microsoft Software over and above my standard package?

Yes, we can rent many common Microsoft Software packages to you as part of your service plan - including SQL Server, SharePoint, Exchange, Office, Project Server and more.

Questions relating to Co-Location

Q. What Server Sizes do you accept for Co-Location?

Currently the sizes vary depending on the site you are placed in, but we recommend servers no deeper than 800mm. In exceptional cases we can accommodate 1000mm (typically Dell) systems. Servers must be supplied in Rack Mount format. Charges depend on the number of "U", so 1U is always preferable.

Q. How much power can I consume?

Power is a distinct part of our charging, and we monitor usage by customers. You will be charged at the peak usage rate for your system(s).

Q. How do I get my servers installed?

For customers co-locating anything less than a full rack, you will need to contact us and arrange shipping to us. We do not permit you to self-install your systems. For full rack and above, self-installation is negotiable.
