Many of our customers have the Anti-Virus and Anti-Spam Screening Service we offer, and many of the more common queries are answered in this FAQ section:
No. In line with almost all major ISPs we no longer send these notifications for a variety of reasons, including the fact that many viruses only purport to be from a particular user, which we cannot verify. As a result a lot of people began getting notifications for messages they never sent - which was considered just as bad as getting a virus in terms of the disruption and annoyance caused.
Our Anti-Spam Samples ReDirection Trial will allow you to receive copies of the messages we block - sent to spam-samples@ your domain name. To use this service, you'll need to register with our HelpDesk Team.
In the vast majority of cases, messages you believe may contain a virus do not - they may be some other form of undesirable message, but are not classed as viruses and are not stopped by this service. In rare cases however we are aware that viruses which have recently become known may not be loaded onto all of our servers. Our systems get updates approximately every 10 minutes 24 hours a day, so are as up to date as the virus definitions available.
Yes. You will need to complete the Anti-Spam Whitelisting Form to do this, which will ensure messages are bypassed from the scanning system. Please be aware that this also means any messages that are spoofed (pretend) to be from the whitelisted addresses will be sent to you without further checking.
Yes, although we may refuse to do this where the IP address is known or believed to be involved in spamming, is an Open Relay, or is otherwise unsuitable for whitelisting.
