Study Finds Small Businesses Risking Data Loss

20th March 2013

A study recently found that under 20% of UK-based small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) properly backed up their data, putting them at serious risk of data loss.

The research, performed by IT services firm Onyx Group, looked into the IT management at hundreds of firms across the country, finding that a range of ineffective data storage practices were exposing SMEs to potentially devastating risk.

88% of the businesses surveyed had disaster recovery and business continuity plans in place but data backup proved to be a weak spot for many companies. 25% of those surveyed had lost critical data in the last two years, data which could have been recovered had good practices been in place.

If you're looking to improve data backup for your business, why not contact VPW your local IT support company - Dorset IT and computer support, to find out what we can do for you with services such as our Remote Backup for Small Business.
