Connectivity - Broadband Services
Troubleshooting Broadband Issues, help with connection issues or making changes to your Broadband Service

What speed is my broadband service from you?

The speed you receive will vary considerably based on factors beyond our control. Typical broadband services vary depending on the line length between you and the nearest BT exchange (this is the same for all providers).

If you're on one of our legacy services, you'll receive a fixed speed connection of 256k, 512k, 1meg or 2meg. We no longer offer these options so few customers remain on those options.

If you take our standard packages you'll receive EITHER up to 8 meg, or up to 20 meg services. These have an upload speed of up to 2.5 meg. However the typical customer is receiving 13-15 meg for downloads and 1..1 meg upload. You will only receive the higher upload speeds if your line is suitable and you have our Premium Broadband option.

We always attempt to provide the fastest stable speed we can to you. As a guide, customers in more rural locations will often have slower speeds due to lines being much longer, whilst those in the middle of a city/town will find speeds are higher.

The speed you actually experience beyond the raw line speed depends on the capacity and capability of the remote service you are using. Not all systems/services can send data at the same speed as your line.
