E-Mail Services - Screening Services (Anti-Virus/Anti-Spam)
Making changes and adjusting your Anti-Virus and Anti-Spam Services

Do you notify the sender if the message they send contains a Virus?

No, we do not notify the original sender if a message is stopped because it contains a virus or is considered to contain malware by our system.

This is because the vast majority of virus infected e-mails are also spam and/or contain false sender information. This would thus mean that innocent parties receive notifications that they've sent messages they never sent (known as backscatter), or we end up attempting to send mail to totally invalid senders.

This policy is in line with almost all major providers who have the same policy.
